We have a 6-step process that we implement for every injury settlement video we produce. It consists of the following:
- Discovery
- Initial Outreach
- Prep and Research
- Capture
- Edit
- Approval
In the discovery process we find out about your client through a call with your law firm. We gather all the pertinent information including draft, medical records, police report, and discuss our strategy.
In our initial outreach we have the law firm introduce us to the injured victim through a warm email. We then follow-up and find out when the best time to scheduler a call so that we’re beginning to develop a relationship and trust. We want the injured victim or family member to know that we’re empathetic to what they’re experiencing and that we care. We’ve found that it’s easier to have that understanding prior to the actual interview and recording.
Next we are ready for Capture. Because of Covid-19 we’ve had more requests to record the interviews remotely. In doing so we’ve found that it hasn’t had an adverse effect at all on the financial results of the settlement. We record this through Zoom, Skype, and other platforms. We’re still available to go directly to a client’s home and record the interview there with our Canon C100 Markll camera. We’ve also relied on cell phone interviews where we’ve prepared the injured victim family member to record a diary video speaking directly into the cell phone answering the questions we provide. If we decide to go that route our team sends a list of best practices to the family and we answers any questions that come up in the process.
We use Premiere Pro in editing our Day In The Life settlement videos. We begin assembling the video by going through the various clips and highlighting the most powerful moments. We then begin editing the video and searching for music that conveys the proper tone. We also create graphics to fill in important points and highlight areas of emphasis. We screen capture various documents that we think are relevant to the story as well. We then master the video to Mpeg4 and share it with our law firm client.
In the Prep and Research stage, we go through all the findings the personal injury firm has shared with us and begin to develop the questions that are relevant to the case and the video. During this stage we also determine who are the best candidates to interview along with the law firm. Quite often family members of the injured victim or survivors in a wrongful death situation provide the best insight and emotion to the story.
In the approval process we send the video to the attorney so that they can carefully review the story. We provide stamped time code on the video so that the team can refer to specific areas when we’re communicating during the approval process. Once the video is approved we send the video file without the time code stamp through Vimeo or Dropbox so that the law firm can download it and send it to the insurance company.
